Míriam Illa is coordinator of the Fetal Therapy and Surgery line and the BCNatal-FMRC Animal Model Platform.
Having graduated (2004) and obtained a PhD (2017) in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona, respectively, she specialized (2009) in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.
The author of more than 25 articles in maternal and fetal medicine, she has been a visiting researcher abroad and in national centers (University of Cambridge, Leuven and Pablo Olavide) as part of her training and holds the title of "Accredited Personnel for Animal Research" of FELASA (2009, University of Barcelona).
At the clinical level, she has specialized in high-risk maternal pathology by assisting both in the Prenatal Unit, in the Monocorial Twin Gestation Unit, and in the Neurosonography Unit. She has also participated as a second assistant in fetal surgeries within the Fetal Therapy team. Since 2014, her clinical activity has focused on the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital as Coordinator of the Maternal-fetal Medicine ward, also joining the Neurosonography Unit and the shifts of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service.
