We start the BiSC project to study the effect of air pollution on fetal health
How does air pollution affect the neurological and cardiovascular development of the fetus? The BiSC (Barcelona Life Study Cohort) project, carried out in collaboration with ISGlobal and the Hospital de Sant Pau, and with funding from the European Research Council and the Health Effects Institute, will determine the impact of contamination on fetal health.
The study will be conducted with 1,200 pregnant women and will evaluate the effect of air pollution on placental function, fetal growth as well as cardiovascular and the brain development of the fetus. The project was presented at the end of 2018, thanks to the support of Obra Social ‘la Caixa’, and made headlines on television, general and virtual media.
