SPECIFIC COMPETENCES
- Capacity to recognize, assess, and interpret normal and/or changing signs of maternal or fetal health-disease processes to diagnose and prognose medically
- Apply advanced clinical considerations of embryonic and fetal development and physiology.
- Master the management of medical and obstetric pathology, and management of critically ill obstetric patients.
- Attain an advanced degree of proficiency in fetal and obstetric ultrasound, as well as diagnostic and prenatal therapy techniques and protocols.
- Acquire competencies for basic and advanced genetic counseling for various fetal pathologies.
- Develop and apply updated management protocols for fetal pathology.
- Experience in treating complex maternal-fetal pathologies.
- Experience in treating complex fetal pathologies (small-for-gestational-age fetuses, complications in twin pregnancies, fetal-fetal transfusions, discordant growth, etc.).
- Abilities to respond to the needs of the patient (mother and fetus) and the family, planning personalized care interventions.

Fellow Profile: Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist, preferably with specific training in Maternal-Fetal MedicineHeadquarters: Hospital Clínic and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Barcelona, part of the Centre for Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine of Barcelona (BCNatal).
Certification:
- At the end of the course, the fellow will receive a certificate from the Hospital Clínic indicating the duration of their research stay at BCNatal
- Certificate of activities carried out during one year signed by the Coordinator/Person in charge of the fellowship.
Price:4500€/year (The indirect costs will be those derived from the need to take out professional civil liability insurance for the entire duration of the stay in order to be able to access healthcare data and a personal accident policy within the Hospital’s facilities.)

MODULE 1: BASIC TRAINING IN MATERNAL-FETAL MEDICINE
Duration: 4 months
Overall Objective:
At the end of this training period, the specialist will be able to recognize the characteristics of a normal pregnancy and apply diagnostic strategies to differentiate it from a pathological one due to congenital or anatomical causes. MODULE 2: SPECIFIC TRAINING IN MATERNAL MEDICINE
Duration: 8 months
Overall Objective:
At the end of this training period, the specialist will be able to recognize maternal conditions potentially posing a risk to the survival of the mother or the fetus. They will also be competent to conduct research in this field.

MODULE 3. SPECIFIC TRAINING IN FETAL MEDICINE

Overall Objective:
At the end of this training period, the specialist will be able to identify fetal pathological conditions compatible or incompatible with extrauterine life. They will also be competent to conduct research in this field.
