Clinician
Francesc Figueras is the coordinator of the BCNatal-FMRC Placental Disease line.
Having graduated (1993) and obtained a PhD (2002) in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, he also holds a specialty (1998) in Gynecology/Obstetrics, a master's degree in Methodology in Health Sciences (2014) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in Public Health (2019) from the University of Edinburgh.
He is a leading researcher in maternal and fetal medicine. The author of more than 240 articles in indexed journals, a professor of the University of Barcelona and the secretary of the Academic Commission of the Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Programme in Fetal and Perinatal Medicine (University of Barcelona, Lund University and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven). He is an accredited researcher with IDIBAPS and a member attached to the Center for Networked Biomedical Research in Rare Diseases (CIBERER).
At the clinical level, he is a consultant physician in maternal and fetal medicine, coordinator of Maternal and Obstetric Pathology of BCNatal, responsible for the Fetal Growth and Preeclampsia Unit of Hospital Clínic and Sant Joan de Déu, and head of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Service of Hospital Clínic.
