Eduard Gratacós



Eduard Gratacós is the director of BCNatal (clinical center) and BCNatal-FMRC (research). An expert in medicine and fetal surgery, he performed the first fetal surgery in Spain, and is the joint first reporter of three fetal surgery techniques related to access to the fetal airways. He has made scientific contributions in different fields, highlighting new clinical classifications in fetal pathology, new contributions on fetal programming and innovations in fetal surgery. He is the author of more than 480 peer-reviewed articles. He has coordinated 50+ and participated in 75+ international and national research projects funded by ISCIII, MINECO, the European Commission, CIBER and AGAUR, as well as private entities, including La Caixa, Cellex, Cerebra (UK) and Thrasher (US).
A professor of the University of Barcelona, and the Director of the European Doctoral Programme Erasmus Mundus in Fetal Medicine at the Universities of Barcelona, Leuven (Belgium) and Lund (Sweden), he has directed more than 150 face-to-face courses, online, postgraduate and master's degrees in Spanish and English, and 38 doctoral theses. He is scientific reviewer and advisor to international health systems and research. He is Editor-in-Chief of "Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy".
The co-author of several patents related to maternal-fetal medicine, he has collaborated and scientifically advised health companies and was the promoter of Transmural Biotech, a spin-off of Hospital Clínic and the University of Barcelona. He promoted the creation of and collaborates with Medicina Fetal Barcelona, which with different international universities develops online training programs in Spanish and English.
